As part of a repositioning project, premium men’s shoe and accessories brand Aquila approached Platform to develop a design framework for their new sites that defined a spatial and tactile translation of the brand’s essence — a merging of Italian heritage and contemporary Australian lifestyle. Integrating insights into customer personas, journey and store networks, a simple yet impactful language was created, using spatial rhythms to define product categories, and enabling increased flexibility in display and cohesion with changing online campaigns. The resulting framework both maximises store efficiencies and allows capitalisation on lease opportunities, with the first site in Highpoint shopping centre achieving a better sqm/sales ratio on a smaller footprint.
